LACMA

We went to LACMA a couple of weeks ago and had a fabulous time.

There were long yellow noodles to wander through...

...and a necklace made of legos.

I liked this nose jewelry. It was a cast of Lois Boardman's nose by Gerd Rothmann.

There was an exhibit of prints by Picasso which I found especially interesting because of the printmaking class I am taking.

I love Kandinsky...

...and Mondrian...

...and especially Calder!

Because of all his cubist work, some people think Pablo Picasso couldn't draw, but not true.

This work by Mungo Thompson was fun...

...and we all enjoyed Chris Burden's Metropolis II.

It was fun (don't be fooled by the lackluster expressions) to watch from up above.

From the Last Few Weeks

Bertie loves these little whiffle balls. He loves them to death. He has destroyed at least five and the time from destruction to destruction is getting shorter. Last time I went to the bird farm, I asked how much a case was. They gave me a 10% discount of the per ball price.

Stan's sister Marcia and her boys came for a visit. Heather took pictures one afternoon in the front yard.

We had craft night for FHE and Rachel made this lovely charm bracelet out of my bead stash.

I like how it coordinates with her manicure!

Embroidered Adornment

Summer saw some jewelry that she liked, a while ago. I looked at it and said, "You could make that." Over the next couple of months I gathered supplies for her.

The little frames came in a package of two, so I also made a necklace.

Summer's (which I think is about 17x more nifty than mine) has a mustache, bow tie and monocle, and is longer. Mine is just an "A", but it was fun embroidering with beads. It's something I'd never tried before.

After I cropped the picture to put it on the blog, I was messing around with PhotoFiltre.

Here are a few more versions, just for fun :)

Ruth Parker Jewelry

A friend of our family is building her jewelry making business. Lauren has impeccable taste and I love her sense of color. She does a wonderful job of combining old and new to make beautiful jewelry.

Here is link for those of you who like pretty shiny things or for those of you who might be buying Christmas presents for someone who likes pretty shiny things...

She even has a weekly giveaway and a new one went up today (just for you Alyssa).

Just when I thought...

...I had all the jewelry any girl could need, I saw this necklace at the San Diego Zoo (post coming soon) gift shop and just had to buy it!
